Regional was retained to re imagine the archetypical american convenience chain hotel structure. A difficult task as most of the projects in this category have been already carefully studied and developed through consistent input on hotel management and maintenance best practices.
However, we gladly accepted the challenge.
Several distributions were studied to attempt to re imagine the typical hotel distributions. Facade options were also studied in order to break up the predictable window pattern.
From these studies, several versions of possible facades were developed and presented to the client. From playful cantilevered elements to second skins which would relate to local textiles (while relieving from intense sun exposure).
In the end, the client decided to conserve its facades unchanged and opt for a conservative approach familiar to its construction and maintenance staff. Our internal distribution was chosen to be encased on the regular envelope usually reserved for this typology.
