Our client requested a house which related to the cold North Dakota landscape while seeming to have an open air feel to it usually more related to warmer climates.

Thus the challenge consisted in creating a very open high ceilinged pavilion for social programmes while creating more enclosed areas for the private rooms. The social area, while enveloped in glass, has considered active and passive geothermal climate control to cope with harsh winter temperatures.
